In
December 2002 my husband and I had the chance to visit the USA. Ann and
John Jeffcoat ("Chesachobees"-kennel) living close to Baltimore invited
us to stay with them. So naturally we first went to the Chesapeake Bay,
where the Chesapeake Bay Retriever originate from. A beautiful area,
covered with snow and xmas-decorations everywhere! We also visited the
Maritime Museum at St. Michaels to inform ourselves about the Chesapeake
Bay and the breed's heritage.
Then
we went sightseeing a little to learn more about this beautiful country!
We visited Harpers Ferry - a small village where everything is kept like
in 1860 and where the Potomac and Shenandoah rivers meet as well as the
three states Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia. We also went on the
skyline-drive through the Shenandoah National Park and had a look at the
large caverns at Luray which were very impressive!
We also visited Mount Vernon, where George
Washington once lived and had a quick look at Washington D.C. and
Baltimore. One evening we went out for dinner with
Ann
and John where we had a huge pile of shrimps and blue crabs, a
speciality of that area and absolutely delicious!
We would have loved to spend more time in this fascinating country!
Thanks to Ann and John for taking care of us - we enjoyed our stay very
much and we surely come back again! |
